Nestled conveniently at 719 Kamehameha Hwy, this cozy spot has quickly become a beloved local gem, praised for its generous portions, fresh ingredients, and heartfelt hospitality.

The menu at Button Up Cafe reads like a delicious journey through Asia-Pacific-inspired comfort food with a playful twist. Imagine starting your day with the indulgent Stuffed Strawberry Cheesecake French Toast or the exotic Stuffed Ube Cheesecake French Toast — both dishes offer a luscious balance of sweetness and texture that can quickly become your new favorite morning treat. If you crave savory, the Portuguese Sausage and Spam Omelet or the classic Braised Short Rib Loco Moco offer a rich, satisfying start, each plate brimming with bold, comforting flavors and generous servings of tender meats and house-made gravies.

For the sandwich enthusiast, Button Up’s gourmet offerings like the Bulgogi Cheese Steak Sandwich—featuring grilled onions, gooey provolone, and a zingy kimchi aioli—and the BLT Kalua Pork Sandwich, layered with smoky pork and chipotle mayo, showcase the kitchen’s skill in crafting fusion masterpieces that delight the palate and fill you up. Meanwhile, their creative take on grilled cheese sandwiches, such as the Kalua Pork Grilled Cheese or Bulgogi Grilled Cheese, elevates a humble comfort food to something truly special.

Despite its intimate size—only six tables—the place buzzes with a lively, welcoming vibe. Regulars and newcomers alike appreciate the friendly service and the “absolute hustle” of the crew, ensuring you never feel rushed even if there’s a wait. As Rebecca Rank notes, the portions are hearty, perfect for those hungry from exploring or locals wanting a satisfying meal with generous servings, like the unforgettable corned beef loco moco smothered in expertly crafted gravy.

The combination of richly flavored dishes and genuine aloha spirit resonates deeply with diners. Patrons like Jane S praise the flavorful braised short ribs, while others, including Leela Batterson, describe the food as “200% perfect” and “to die for,” emphasizing the freshness and comforting sense of home conveyed by every bite. If you're prepared for the occasional wait, as many customers suggest, the delicious rewards of Button Up Cafe are well worth it.

SO ONO! Happened to find this place and it delivered. 6 tables, so small but was busy the whole time. The crew absolutely hustled! Could only finish half my Benedict - upgraded to the fried rice (with bacon and spam!). So the portion sizes are generous. Other person got the corned beet loco moco. Also delicious and generous. The gravy is on point. There might be a wait but it's worth it. Parking lot is in front of store. Accessibility- if it's busy might have to squeeze by some people. But it's 1st floor.

The braised short rib was so flavorful! I wish they had some vegetables or kimchi to help as the food was very heavy.
